OTTAWA, ONTARIO (PRWEB) JUNE 18, 2019

Crypto4A Technologies Inc. today announced the availability of a unique Canadian Cybersecurity solution. Crypto4A provides enterprise, cloud providers, mobile application, and IoT developers with sophisticated hardware-based security to keep the digital keys and their machine identities that run commerce, banking, payments, logistics, and the entire digital economy safe from cybercriminals and nation state attackers. Crypto4A hardware delivers high quality, trusted, and certified entropy to prevent keys and machine identities from succumbing to sophisticated attacks that software and existing hardware are vulnerable to. The Root of QAOS™ is an industry-first Entropy Appliance based on National Institute for Standards in Technology (NIST) standards.

Today we live in a world where the number of connected machines far outnumbers people on the planet. Attackers are moving beyond stealing human identities and are now targeting machine identities. Just like usernames and passwords authorize access to humans; keys and certificates act as machine identities that authorize and validate machine access to valuable data. This makes strong cryptographic keys even more essential for today’s digital world. The only way to keep machine identities secure is to have a strong source of entropy, the fundamental ingredient for all cryptographic key generation processes.

IoT devices and cloud-based virtual machines tend to generate low quality and low quantities of entropy. These systems cannot be trusted to generate sufficiently high-quality entropy internally to ensure that keys, and ultimately identities, are both unique and strong across a multitude of devices.

Crypto4A’s Root of QAOS™ Entropy Appliance is based on NIST’s Entropy-as-a-Service (EaaS) reference architecture and provides trusted, certified, monitored, and high-quality (multiple and quantum-based sources of) entropy to any number of internal and external systems and devices. The Root of QAOS™ is deployable as an appliance or as a managed service to deliver certified and trusted entropy required for data centers, cloud providers, enterprise computing platforms, IoT, and/or embedded devices such as mobile applications.

“Cyberattackers have moved beyond stealing human identities, like usernames and passwords, and are now targeting the identities of machines,” said Kevin Bocek, Vice President of Security Strategy and Threat Intelligence for Venafi. “As a developer in the Machine Identity Protection Development Fund, Crypto4A are ensuring that all machine identities are both unique and protected not only today but in a post-quantum world where today’s cryptographic systems cannot be trusted. The Crypto4A team are innovators and are enabling the world’s largest banks, retailers, airlines, insurers, and payment providers to prepare for a post-quantum world with the Venafi Platform. When the crypto-apocalypse comes, Crypto4A and Venafi customers will be ready.”

Apostol Vassilev, Research Team Lead, NIST states, “It is great to see the adoption of the EaaS architecture by industry experts and solution providers. Having strong entropy is essential to ensuring the security of the cryptographic systems that we so heavily rely on in the digital world today.”

Bruno Couillard, CEO and Co-Founder of Crypto4A states, “Entropy is to a cryptographic engine what fuel is to an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). You can’t expect a high-performance engine to perform on poor quality fuel; don’t think for a second that your security stack is any different. We strongly believe that before we move on to address the difficult challenges of Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) in our security stack we absolutely must take care of the quality of our entropy sources.”

The Root of QAOS™ is the first solution based on the advanced capabilities provided by Crypto4A’s next generation cybersecurity platform, designed from the ground up to be Quantum Ready, meaning quantum safe updates, crypto agility, and crypto adaptability.
