Ottawa, Canada ‐ Crypto4A Technologies Inc., a global leader in quantum-safe cryptographic solutions, has achieved NIST FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validation for QASM™, the cryptographic module at the core of its next-generation quantum-safe hardware security module (HSM). With QASM™ supporting all NIST-standardized post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms, the achievement makes Crypto4A's HSM the first of its kind in the world to reach this level of independent security validation.
The achievement brings together two critical requirements for the post-quantum transition: independently validated hardware security and support for NIST-standardized PQC algorithms. Crypto4A's next generation, crypto-agile HSM enables organizations to protect cryptographic keys today while building the foundation needed to transition to quantum-safe security. HSMs are tamper-resistant devices that generate, store, and use cryptographic keys, forming a critical root of trust across financial services, government, defence and critical infrastructure.
FIPS 140-3 Level 3 is one of the highest internationally recognized standards for cryptographic security. It requires hardware to withstand robust physical tampering, enforce strong identity-based authentication, and securely manage encryption keys ‐ the digital "keys" that protect everything from financial transactions to national defence systems. This certification independently validates Crypto4A's ability to protect the most sensitive cryptographic keys used by governments, financial institutions, defence, and critical infrastructure operators worldwide, both today and in a post-quantum future.
Trust in the digital economy depends on independently validated cryptographic foundations. Crypto4A's achievement of NIST FIPS 140-3 Level 3 provides the highest level of assurance that cryptographic keys are protected against both today's threats and the realities of a post-quantum future. This level of certification matters because it gives organizations confidence that their trust anchors are built on rigor, resilience, and verifiable security,
said Amit Sinha, CEO and Board Member, DigiCert.
Unlike traditional HSMs designed for today's security threats, Crypto4A's technology is purpose-built to withstand attacks posed by large-scale quantum computers. The FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certification confirms not only cryptographic strength, but also the physical and operational resilience required for the most sensitive, high-risk environments.
Quantum Computing Arrival's Accelerating
This certification comes as governments and regulators around the world accelerate requirements for quantum-safe security. For organizations facing these new mandates, Crypto4A now offers an immediately deployable, independently validated solution to protect their most critical systems from the coming quantum era.
Quantum computing is moving at an ever-faster pace towards being able to hack into today's networks faster than you can snap your fingers ‐ and most of the systems we rely on aren't ready for it. That's why we set out to build the world's first fully quantum-safe hardware security module. This certification represents years of an uncompromising commitment to engineering and strong security foundations that can guard against the cybersecurity threats of the future. Being the first company in the world to achieve NIST FIPS 140-3 Level 3 for quantum-safe technology underscores Crypto4A's leadership in building the hardware needed to rekey the global economy,
said Bruno Couillard, CEO and Co-Founder of Crypto4A.
